Your two biggest enemies
Research shows that fun and performance in the workplace have two enemies that are more threatening than any others: poor communication and a lack of trust. These are the two cornerstones of a close-knit team that is enthusiastic and delivers outstanding work.
The key question for many teams and leaders is: how do you go about building communication and trust? More meetings? A trendy new communication tool? A day of team-building games followed by a barbecue?
These things can contribute to the atmosphere. But they don’t fundamentally deepen and strengthen the cohesion of your team.
Going deeper together
At Rebelieve, we delve deep with teams and leaders. We explore the stories of team members, and of the team or organisation itself.
Who are you as a team member or leader behind your professional role? What has shaped you, and what drives or holds you back? Where are your vulnerabilities? And what resources do you tap into when things get heated?
And the team: when did it function at its very best, and what do you experience in the less successful moments? What stories lie on and beneath the surface about who you are, what you do, and why it matters?
You won’t want to miss this
Our approach begins by listening to what’s going on within the team, and to what’s happening both on and beneath the surface. Based on this, we work together to map out a bespoke development plan.
Along this learning journey, we combine one-to-one sessions with team sessions. We hold discussions, create opportunities for reflection, and encourage you to explore new paths.
We’d also love to take you on a Rebelieve Adventure, where, in the tranquillity of nature, you can (re)connect with yourself, with others, and with the bigger story that calls to you as a team. Together with Rebelieve, you’ll experience a sense of relaxation and depth you never thought possible. A transformation in your view of what it means to be a team.
Our promise
One of the outcomes of embarking on a journey with Rebelieve is that you learn to ‘re-believe’: you know how to rebuild trust when it crumbles or comes under pressure. In yourself as a team member, in others, and in the task at hand.
Together, you bring a new team narrative into the world, one that will impress your clients and those around you. A narrative built on (self-)awareness, honest interaction and deepened trust. A narrative rooted in a healthy identity that becomes a source of energy, direction, connection and impact.
Who we are
We are John Mark and Stephen Teeuwen, two brothers who grew up in the jungles of Papua, Indonesia, amongst an indigenous tribe living in the Stone Age. When we emigrated to the Netherlands with our parents, brother and sister, we arrived without knowing how to cross a busy street or buy anything in a shop.
Today, we help teams and their leaders to navigate change and transitions through self-awareness, mutual connection and trust. We are supported in this by a small team of specialists.
Stephen
“I grew up in the jungles of Papua and spent part of my childhood far from home, at boarding school. By the age of 10, I had lived on three continents. Sensitivity, creativity and self-reliance were absolute necessities, as was the ability to listen, explore and communicate across all kinds of barriers. The cycle of gaining, losing and regaining trust became part of the journey: ‘Believe, disbelieve, rebelieve’. I see this in teams and their leaders too. Embracing the vulnerability and delays that are inextricably linked to transitions creates breathing space. And breathing space gives the energy to move forward, to connect, and to achieve better results with greater satisfaction.”
John Mark
"Growing up in the highlands of Papua has given me a unique perspective on people, culture and personal leadership. Later, I gained extensive experience in strategic and relational leadership, including during my time with the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee. In addition, for many years I provided leadership and guidance to various faith communities and life-coaching teams at universities. I have had the privilege of visiting many countries to support cross-cultural organisations and teams on the ground, in both the non-profit sector and the business world. These experiences have reinforced my conviction that healthy, sustainable performance begins with personal leadership, meaningful connection and a vision of impact.”
