More about Dirk de Wachter
Dirk de Wachter is a professor of clinical psychiatry and an associate professor in the Faculty of Medicine at KU Leuven. He specialises in family therapy and is known for his deep insights into contemporary mental health issues, particularly the effects of societal pressures on individual well-being.
He is the author of several influential books, including Borderline Times (2012), in which he reflects on the prevalence of borderline characteristics in modern society, and The Art of Being Unhappy (2019), in which he challenges the modern pursuit of constant happiness and emphasises the importance of embracing suffering as a part of life.
